APÊL Y LLYWYDD ANRHYDEDDUS
Annwyl Gyfeillion
I’m writing to you on behalf of Cennard Davies, Honorary President of ‘Cronfa Glyndŵr yr ysgolion Cymraeg’. The Cronfa Glyndŵr trust was established through the generosity of Trefor a Gwyneth Morgan in 1963 to support Welsh-medium education. Since then the trustees have distributed substantial grants to cylchoedd meithrin (playgroups), individual schools and others who work hard to develop and promote Welsh-medium education. Click here
We award our grants mainly to help them to improve their provision and services by marketing more effectively and ensuring they have the best resources. Details of the grants and the ways in which they have ‘made a positive difference’ to the Welsh-medium education sector can be seen on our website www.cronfaglyndwr.cymru and on the attached leaflet. But to fulfil the demand we need sufficient funds. Unfortunately, 2020-21 has been a very challenging year for Welsh-medium education with the cylchoedd meithrin under siege and language movements strained to their limits. In spite of these difficulties, they are determined to carry on. But lack of resources is hindering progress. Likewise, this has been a challenging year for Cronfa Glyndŵr, with more demands on its income and far more applications for grants than in the past. Indeed, we are at crisis point, and we can no longer respond to every application for help, no matter how worthy it is.
And this is where you can help us hopeI’m writing to you on behalf of Cennard Davies, Honorary President of ‘Cronfa Glyndŵr yr ysgolion Cymraeg’. And this is where you can help us hopefully, by contributing a gift or by covenant to our work (see the attached leaflet). Click here Our aim, through this appeal, is to strengthen the trust, and to secure its future so that we can continue to support the target of reaching a million Welsh-speakers by 2050. We will appreciate every contribution which helps to promote this important work. We look forward to hearing from you. This Appeal will close at the end of May 2021,
Thank you very much, Diolch yn fawr,
Catrin Stevens
